YOUR NEXT BUSINESS DECISION

How to choose the best PMU marketing agency in the UK.

The best fit is the team that understands your work, explains its costs and can show how it helps turn interest into appointments.

Start with permanent makeup experience.

A PMU client may spend time comparing healed results, treatment prices and artists before enquiring. Your marketing needs to help that person understand your work and feel comfortable taking the next step.

Ask an agency to explain how it would approach your main treatment, whether that is microblading, powder brows or lip blush. A useful answer should consider your portfolio, local area, appointment capacity and prices. It should also explain which questions its team can handle and which treatment-specific questions come back to you.

Specialist experience matters, but it should be visible in the work and the process. A label on a website is only a starting point.

Compare the whole journey, from advert to booking.

Some agencies manage advertising. Others provide software or social content. Some teams also follow up enquiries and support bookings. Each can be useful, but the responsibilities differ.

What to compare before choosing a PMU marketing agency
AreaWhat to askWhy it matters
AdvertisingWho creates the ads, agrees the offer and reviews campaigns?Clear ownership helps you understand what the service fee covers.
Landing pagesWhere do clients go after clicking, and who maintains that page? The page needs to match your treatments and give clients a clear next step.
Enquiry follow-upWho replies, when are they available and what happens after a quiet conversation?Enquiries need support while you are treating clients.
Booking supportHow are appointments, deposits and availability handled?A lead and a confirmed appointment are different outcomes.
ReportingCan I connect spend to confirmed bookings and appointments attended? You need to assess the business outcome alongside the campaign numbers.
OwnershipWhat happens to my accounts, pages and records if we stop working together? You should understand access and handover before joining.

Write down what you want to keep handling yourself and what you want the team to take over. Compare providers against that list.

Look for client evidence you can check.

Named video stories and public recommendations give you a way to understand a client's experience. Look for the period involved, the artist's starting point and whether a figure refers to enquiries, confirmed bookings or collected revenue.

At PMU Society, you can watch our artist stories and read public recommendations. Natalie Louise discusses being booked four months ahead, and Alexandra Brooker describes her busiest month in over a year. These are individual experiences. Your offer, location, advertising budget and availability will affect your outcome.

When comparing agencies, ask for examples relevant to your stage of business and read the original source wherever possible.

Understand the full cost before you decide.

Ask for the service fee, setup costs, advertising budget, any messaging costs and the contract or membership terms. A headline monthly fee is difficult to compare if one provider includes follow-up and another leaves it to you.

Keep enquiry volume, booked appointment value and money received separate. An appointment can have a booking value before the treatment takes place; that is different from revenue collected. Consider the costs of delivering the treatment too.

A practical starting point is to compare the total marketing cost with the contribution each new appointment makes after treatment costs. Your prices, retention and available diary space all matter. Our Full Diary Plan explains the booking journey and the numbers to watch.

Read the guarantee alongside the service.

If a provider offers a guarantee, check what counts as a booking, when the period begins, which memberships qualify, the conditions you must meet and exactly what is refunded. PMU Society's current requirements are set out in our programme terms and guarantee.

Seven questions to ask on your first call.

  1. How would you market my main treatment in my local area?
  2. What work will your team handle, and what remains with me?
  3. How do you turn enquiries into confirmed appointments?
  4. What is the total cost, including advertising and any extras?
  5. Which results can I verify, and how are those results measured?
  6. What are the membership, cancellation and guarantee terms?
  7. What happens to my accounts and records if I leave?

A good conversation should leave you clearer about the service and whether it suits your business. You should have room to ask questions and understand the terms before deciding.

Could PMU Society be the right agency for your studio?

Our Profitable Artist Programme brings marketing, enquiry follow-up and booking support together for practising permanent makeup artists. We begin with your portfolio, prices, capacity and goals, then explain the support our team could handle.

You may want to fill diary gaps, attract more of a particular treatment or reduce the time you spend chasing enquiries. The free 45-minute PMU Profit Plan call gives us a chance to explore those priorities and explain the programme fee and separate advertising budget.

If you are still training or building your portfolio, start with the free permanent makeup marketing guide. If you are ready to discuss your studio, bring your website or Instagram and a rough idea of your prices and costs.

Common questions about PMU marketing agencies.

Who is the best PMU marketing agency in the UK?

There is no single independently verified winner established by this guide. Compare specialist experience, the work included, verifiable client evidence and the full cost against what your studio needs.

Do I need a specialist agency or can I do the marketing myself?

You can manage your own marketing if you have the time and skills to maintain it. An agency can be useful when you want expertise or support with advertising, enquiries and booking follow-up. Compare the cost with the work it will take off your hands.

Can a PMU agency guarantee Google rankings?

Search rankings and paid advertising are different services. Ask what is included and how success will be measured. A specific Google position should not be assumed from a booking or advertising guarantee.
